Press Release - OLD

L&M Arts, Los Angles is pleased to exhibit highlights from two periods of Willem de Kooning’s expansive career: Women drawings 1947-1954 and paintings 1980-1985.

In New York, the gallery has had the honor of organizing eight de Kooning exhibitions, such as de Kooning: The WomenWillem de Kooning: Paintings 1975-1978, and Willem de Kooning: 1981-1986. With the opening of our gallery in Venice, California we are pleased to have this opportunity to present these two bodies of work.

Willem de Kooning: Figure & Light will feature loans from institutional and private collections from around the world, among them Daros Collection, Switzerland; Glenstone, Potomac; The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC; and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

A fully illustrated catalogue will accompany the exhibition, with essays by Diane Waldman, former curator and deputy director of the Guggenheim Museum, and Jill Weinberg Adams, Gallerist and formerly with Xavier Fourcade.
